Dutch Fork receiver/defensive back Bryce Thompson has decommitted from Virginia Tech and will open up his recruitment.
The rising senior made the announcement Sunday night on Twitter.
“After talking to my family and coaches, I’ve decided that I’m going to reopen my recruitment. Please respect my decision.”
Thompson committed to Virginia Tech in July 2016 and had made several visits there since. South Carolina could be in the mix for the ESPN Top 300 prospect.
Thompson, the No. 7 prospect in the state according to 247Sports, was at USC on Wednesday for a camp.
Thompson played at Ben Lippen last year and scored the game-winning touchdown in the SCISA 3A championship game. He had 1,819 yards of total offense and 24 TDs last year, and had three interceptions on defense.
Thompson announced in March he was returning to Dutch Fork where he played his freshman year.
