This Week’s Race: Camping World 500

A look at the weekend on NASCAR’s top national series

What: 188 laps or 500.08 miles

Where: Talladega Superspeedway, a 2.66-mile highly banked tri-oval in Talladega, Ala.

When: 2 p.m. Sunday

Radio: Motor Racing Network

Last year’s winner: Matt Kenseth

Also this week: Fred’s 250, Truck Series, Talladega Superspeedway, 4 p.m. Saturday, Fox Sports 1.

Worth mentioning: David Ragan was the surprise winner of the spring Sprint Cup race at Talladega, but perhaps it wasn’t that much of a surprise. Both of Ragan’s Cup wins have come on restrictor-plate tracks. His first win was the July 2011 race at Daytona.

Who’s Not/Who’s Not

Brad Keselowski: The champ is back in the win column.

Matt Kenseth: Basically held serve, but when you’re the points leader, that’s OK.

Jimmie Johnson: Clearly has speed to win this championship. He still has fives races to do it.

Kyle Busch: He has 11 wins and counting in the Nationwide Series this season.

Kyle Larson: Turned a lot of heads with his performances at Charlotte.

Austin Dillon: Inching closer to the Nationwide series title.

Mark Martin: Tony Stewart isn’t having an easy time in rehab for his broken leg and Martin isn’t having an easy time replacing him in the driver’s seat.

Elliott Sadler/Brian Vickers: Never good when teammates wreck.

Travis Kvapil: Also never good when drivers appear on the police blotter.
