NASCAR testing about to crank up at Daytona

Preseason Thunder, the annual NASCAR testing session at Daytona International Speedway, will begin Thursday with two days for the Sprint Cup Series. Testing has been expanded to include the Nationwide and Truck series this season.

Preseason Thunder, the annual NASCAR testing session at Daytona International Speedway, will begin Thursday with two days for the Sprint Cup Series. Testing has been expanded to include the Nationwide and Truck series this season.

Cup series teams will test Thursday and Friday, Nationwide teams Saturday and Sunday and Truck teams Monday and Tuesday. It will be the first time since 2008 the Nationwide and Truck series teams have participated in January testing sessions at Daytona.

All sessions are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Fox Sports 1 plans to provide 12 hours of coverage from Thursday through Saturday. Cup testing will be aired 1-5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and Nationwide testing will be shown 3-7 p.m. Saturday. Jim Utter
