A veteran of the NASCAR circuit and his daughter are recovering at a North Carolina hospital after they were allegedly attacked outside a concert in Charlotte.
According to a post shared by former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace on Twitter, his brother and fellow NASCAR driver Mike Wallace, along with Mike’s daughter Lindsay were beaten as they were leaving a Rascal Flatts concert in Charlotte at the PNC Amphitheater Friday evening.
Kenny went on to say in a series of tweets Sunday afternoon that the men “continued to kick Mike in the face while Mike was ‘knocked out’ ”.
The well-known driver and racing personality went on to say that, as Mike’s daughter Lindsay was trying to protect his father from the beating, the suspects “kicked her in the ribs.”
Here is an excerpt of Mike Wallace’s Facebook post that has been shared on social media.
“I normally would not post personal affairs but this is to help and give advice to our friends, do not ever talk to a group of now what appeared to be drunk or drugged up young adult men or women when your trying to get in your car and leave the un guarded PNC amphitheater in Charlotte, NC parking lot after a good Rascal Flatts concert. This is what I looked like after I was knocked out and crap beat out of me. The ambulance driver took this picture we were just suppose to have a fun night. I want to thank my family and friends for helping to protect me from a worse beating as I layed unconscious on the [ground].
“Whats worse is three of guys that beat my family up were arrested and out of jail before we were out of the hospital.”
Wallace has started nearly 500 Xfinity Series races, earning four wins, along with another five wins in 115 starts in the Camping World Truck Series.
Wallace has not competed this season.
Motorsport.com reported that three men had been arrested in connection with the assault and are scheduled to appear in court in late July.
