Furman baseball schedule released

Thirty-three home games and contests against Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia highlight Furman's 2010 schedule.

Furman opens the season Feb. 19 against Michigan State. It will host USC on March 16 and Clemson on May 11 at Fluor Field in Greenville, and play at Georgia on March 24.

WRESTLING

Newberry ranked No. 1 in region

Newberry is ranked No. 1 in the preseason Division II Super Region I poll with Pitt-Johnstown. Three Newberry wrestlers also are ranked No. 1 in their weight class: Matt Oliver at 125, Bryant Blanton at 174 and Keeno Griffin at 197. ...

The Citadel's Odie Delaney is ranked No. 23 in the 197-pound weight class in Wrestling USA magainze. Delaney was 25-18 last season and reached the NCAA individual championships.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Furman hires assistant

Furman women's basketball coach Sam Dixon has announced the addition of assistant coach Erin Dickerson to the Paladin staff. Dickerson graduated from Northwestern in the spring with a degree in learning and organizational change. She lettered all four years and as a senior she led Northwestern in 3-point shooting.
