ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT RELATIONSHIP SPECIALIST (Math, Spelling): Provides customer service and support for advertising customers in collaboration with Account Executives to meet revenue goals and increase advertiser satisfaction with service and results. Processes transactions and performs day-to-day maintenance of customer accounts, including conducting follow-up with customers on a regular basis and across all platforms. Measures, monitors and builds customer relationships via phone and occasionally in person with Account Executives on sales calls. Collaborates with Account Executives on marketing opportunities and new products/programs. Works closely with customers and team to facilitate proposals, correspondence, resolution of customer issues and to schedule appointments. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with the public and staff. Must be able to work independently and in a team, multi-tasking while under pressure and tight deadlines. Requires problem-solving and analytical abilities, as well as ability to perform mathematical functions. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet and database applications required. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in business or marketing preferred. Prior sales experience desired. NEWSROOM – SPORTS CONTENT EDITOR: Edits copy and writes headlines, working with wire- and staff-generated content, mostly for sports. Must be equally as capable at design and print production, as well as online operations. Candidates must have minimum one year of copy editing and design experience at a daily newspaper; knowledge of grammar and AP style; and familiarity with sports terms, issues and personalities. Requires thorough understanding of reporting, news-writing and editing standards. Must be skilled in Photoshop and inDesign. Bachelor’s degree in journalism preferred. ADVERTISING – ONLINE ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Math, Spelling): Responsible for acquiring new advertising clients from self-generated leads in the Classified categories. Must possess two years’ outside sales experience in developing a territory, including prospecting and/or cold calling for lead generation, as well as effective negotiation skills. Online advertising sales and online advertising planning experience required. College degree is preferred; advertising, marketing or business coursework is a plus. Must be an accomplished PC user and have a clear understanding of the Internet. Must be able to provide excellent customer service while prioritizing and multitasking other responsibilities. PRODUCTION – PRESS OPERATOR (Math): Responsible for operation and maintenance of press and related equipment to produce various printed products. Operates in all areas of pressroom, including handling plates, newsprint, folder and color console. Five years of offset printing experience, including ink-mixing and process-color procedures, as well as excellent mathematical aptitude, mechanical skills and communication skills required. Candidates must be able to lift/push 60 pounds and work effectively in deadline-driven environment. High school diploma or equivalent is required. ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Spelling, Math): Sells advertising schedules based on advertisers' marketing needs. Sells all products in The State Media Company's portfolio (print and online) to achieve revenue goals by: developing and servicing existing, new and inactive accounts in assigned territory; maintaining awareness of local competitive conditions; and improving market share. Requirements include two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a media company. College degree preferred. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow ads from creation to publication to meet or exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate ability to organize individual work activities, as well as to contribute in a team-based environment. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research is a plus. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
