Beaufort County schools close Friday

Concerned about potential high wind effects on school buses, the Beaufort County School District has canceled classes Friday.

Sea Pines Montessori Academy announced today that it will also be closed Friday.

Precautions are necessary regarding the safety of school buses due to a possibility of wind gusts of up to 45 mph during the afternoon, according to a school district press release.

All school district personnel who work a 260-day schedule will be expected to report during usual hours Friday.

An announcement will be made later regarding the make-up day for Friday.

No student activities will be held Friday afternoon or evening since the potential for heavy rains and strong winds later Friday evening is considerable.
