A Few Words With Frank Goodwin
Age: 46
Neighborhood: Garners Ferry area
How long have you lived here: My whole life
What I like most about Columbia: The environment and climate
What I miss when I’m out of town: The people. People here are more friendly than other places.
Place I go to get away: Finlay Park
The restaurant I never tire of: Bernie’s, and I eat lunch at the Duck Inn a lot.
My favorite possession: My Playstation 3. I dibble-dabble in video games.
Weekends are meant for: Going to church, refereeing basketball, getting out in the yard and relaxing
Columbia/the Midlands need(s): More for the youth to do. They don’t have a lot of places to go, and it’s leading to a lot of issues with the youth.
What I dislike most: Parenting is different now than when I was coming up. Kids are being catered to. Parents are not holding up their end of the bargain. I see people my age not quite getting it.
Last place I walked: The State House grounds
Most superstitious about: I don’t like to cut between posts, walk between them. And no leaving hats on the bed.
I can’t do without: Money
Favorite time of day: When I get off work and I’m at home, that’s when I’m at peace.
One piece of advice: You get out of life what you put in it. If you work hard, I don’t care where you come from, be honest and good things will happen to you.
