ATLANTA — Eddie Burns pitched eight strong innings and Jeff Rowland and Luke Murton each had two RBIs to lead Georgia Tech to a 7-1 win over Clemson on Saturday night.

Burns (6-4) allowed one run, seven hits and had three strikeouts for the Yellow Jackets (36-14, 14-12 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Georgia Tech took a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning when Jason Haniger, Charlie Blackmon, Rowland and Murton each had run-scoring singles. Murton added an RBI single in the sixth and Thomas Nichols drove in a run on a double in the following inning.

Graham Stoneburner (5-4) gave up five runs on five hits in 3Ð innings for the Tigers (25-25, 10-18). Stoneburner and reliever Ryan Hinson combined for 11 strikeouts.

The Yellow Jackets will aim for the series sweep today at 1 p.m.

After the Tigers had the bases loaded with one out in the second inning but failed to score, the Yellow Jackets scored a run in the third inning. Chris House led off with a single through the left side and went to second on Jason Haniger’s sacrifice bunt. After checking his swing on a 2-2 pitch, Charlie Blackmon drew a walk after fouling off several 3-2 pitches. Rowland then singled to left-center to score House.

The Tigers scored in the eighth inning. Mike Freeman led off with a single down the left-field line and Jeff Schaus followed with a double down the right-field line that Freeman moved to third base. Kyle Parker’s groundout scored Freeman, but the next two Tigers were retired to keep Georgia Tech ahead by six runs.

Murton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Yellow Jackets, who had 10 hits. John Hinson went 3-for-4 to lead the Tigers, who totaled eight hits.
