Clemson to play 10 times on national TV; season opens with Charleston Classic

CLEMSON — The Clemson men’s basketball team will play 10 times on national television in the 2008-09 season as its schedule was released on Tuesday.

“Our schedule is every bit as challenging as any we’ve played since I’ve been at Clemson,” Tigers coach Oliver Purnell said in a press release. “The TV portion of the schedule is great because it gives us more of an opportunity to showcase our program on a national level. The interest of the national television partners in our program indicates we are getting better and better.”

Clemson will play at Charlotte, Illinois and South Carolina in the non-conference part of the schedule.

The season starts at the Charleston Classic on Nov. 14-16 hosted by the College of Charleston in its new facility.

Clemson’s first scheduled road game will come Nov. 22 at Charlotte, who defeated the Tigers last season in Littlejohn Coliseum by a score of 82-72.
