Gazebo at tennis courts to be dedicated to coach's wife

For as long as he stays at USC, Kent DeMars will have a reminder of his late wife when his men’s tennis team takes the court for a home match.

A newly placed gazebo at the Sam Daniel Tennis Courts will be dedicated in memory of Susan DeMars, who died in July 2006.

The ceremony will begin at 11:45 a.m. Sunday before the Gamecocks’ match with Auburn.

The gazebo was purchased by donations from Rex and Jean Norris and four Gamecock Club county chapters: Darlington, Lancaster, Newberry and York.

Kent DeMars is in his 24th season as the men’s tennis coach and has a 364-263 record.
