USC lands national TV for first three games

CBS will broadcast the Georgia at South Carolina football game on Sept. 13 at 3:30 p.m., meaning the first three Gamecocks games this season will be nationally televised.

USC’s season and home opener against North Carolina State on Thursday, Aug. 28 will be televised by ESPN at 8 p.m.

The Gamecocks’ conference and road opener at Vanderbilt on Thursday, Sept. 4 also will be televised by ESPN at 8:30 p.m.

“It appears we will be one of the most televised teams in the country again this season, and we will try our best to compete like one of the best teams in the country,” USC coach Steve Spurrier said.

The Georgia game will mark the fourth consecutive year CBS has televised a Gamecock game, but it will be the network’s first visit to Columbia since 2005 when it carried the Alabama-USC game.

The Gamecocks made seven national television appearances in 2007. They appeared on ESPN and ESPN2 three times each and on CBS once.

Clemson vs. Alabama on ABC. The Clemson-Alabama football game at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome on Aug. 30 will be televised nationally by ABC at 8 p.m.

The ACC announced that Clemson’s Sept. 6 game against The Citadel will start at 3:30 p.m. but not be televised. It can be seen on the Internet via ESPN 360.

The Clemson-N.C. State game on Sept. 13 will start at noon and be televised by Raycom.

The ACC earlier announced Clemson’s game against Wake Forest on Oct. 9 will start at 7:30 p.m. and be shown on ESPN.
