LB Devin Wherry (6-0 220) of South Pointe attended a USC camp last Friday and hopes the Gamecock coaches liked what they saw of him.
"They said I would play linebacker if I came there," said the multi-skilled Wherry who plays running back. He rushed for 1400 yards and 11 touchdowns last season when he didn't play much linebacker because of torn knee cartilage.
"After the first couple of games, they want to see how my knee holds up. It's fine now. I talked a lot with coach (Eli) Johnson. He seemed interested."
Wherry said USC is his favorite right now. He has offers frm SC State, Liberty and Western Carolina. He's also getting interest from Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and NC State. He also has camped at Wake Forest. He will camp Monday at North Carolina and Tuesday at NC State.
