Six schools have moved to the forefront with DB DaMario Jeffery (6-3 211) of Columbia. "Of the schools that are being honest with me, I'd have to say they are South Carolina, Oklahoma, Alabama, Auburn, Southern Cal and Virginia Tech," Jeffery said. "Southern Cal is telling me they are recruiting me as a linebacker and I respect that. If you want me as a linebacker, just tell me, because that may be where I end up playing regardless. Right now, Alabama, Auburn and South Carolina are coming at me the hardest."
Jeffery was at USC last Saturday for a 7-on-7 camp where he played safety. While there he talked with his recruiter David Reaves and safeties coach Ron Cooper. "I was talking with coach Cooper beforehand and he was telling me how excited he was to see me at safety," Jeffery said. "Me and coach Reaves already have a good relationship. He already knows how good I am so we talk about different stuff like other players and how their recruiting is going and everything like that."
Jeffery also plans to visit Auburn and Alabama later this summer. Jeffery, who briefly was committed to Clemson in March, said the Tigers no longer are a consideration. "Clemson is a good school," he said. "It's just not the school for me."
