ATH Kinsman Thomas (6-3 195) of Marlboro County hoped to commit to USC Friday at the Gamecocks' Showcase Camp, but he knew he had to show the coaches he was fast enough. Apparently, the Gamecocks did not see enough from Thomas Friday to accept a commtment from him at this time.
"They said they wanted me to wait (to commit) until my 40 time came down," Thomas said. "I'm going to sit back and see what happens. To be honest with you, I really didn't know how to run a 40 until Wednesday or Thursday. Once I get my technnique down I can get it faster."
Thomas said USC was still his favorite and receiver David Reaves told him he's still interested. He said NC State and Illinois are two others showing strong interest and he hopes to visit NC State soon.
