Columbia High school standout Damario Jeffery pledged today to play college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Jeffery, A 6-foot-3, 213-pound linebacker, announced his choice at a news conference this afternoon at his school.

Jeffery's final three included USC, Alabama and Auburn.

He had been publicly favoring the Gamecocks for the past several weeks. He worked out at safety at the USC Showcase Camp in July and was pleased by the reaction he got from the Gamecock coaches.

Jeffery's teammate Chris Payne, a defensive back, committed to South Carolina earlier this year.
