OL-DE Daniel Hood (6-5 255) of Knoxville, TN has decided that USC is not the place for him. On his way back home from Florida, Hood took an unofficial visit to USC and did not feel comfortable.
"It just didn't feel right and I went with my gut feeling," he said. "I let the coaches know because I didn't want to play any recruiting games with them."
He says he knew they were no longer an option and didn't want to waste the USC coaching's time. "It seemed like the right thing to do."
And apparently, USC didn't feel that strongly about Hood as the Gamecocks cooled their recruiting efforts and moved the focus to other prospects at his position. Hood visited both Florida, and FSU on the same trip.

He has several offers including FSU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Tennessee, Auburn, Stanford, UCLA, Colorado, and Marshall. Hood has not narrowed his list.
USC was recruiting him as an offensive lineman while other schools are recruiting him at tight end and defensive lineman. He says that this did not factor into his decision to eliminate USC from his list. He runs a 4.9 40.
