Although USC starting quarterback Tommy Beecher gets no love in EA Sports’ new NCAA Football 2009, his girlfriend did not go unnoticed by the makers of the popular video game.
Beecher, who was not announced as the Gamecocks’ starter until April, appears as the backup to Chris Smelley in the game, which uses players’ jersey numbers and tries to replicate their speed and other abilities.
Beecher, who is not a gamer, shrugged when told about the slight.
“We’ll have to wait until next year’s game,” he said.

Beecher’s girlfriend, former USC cheerleader Whitney Jones, is pictured on the game’s box — as his teammates have been quick to remind him.
“They all came up and told me they like looking at her.”
