2010 PG Eric Smith (6-0 185) of Mullins made a commitment to USC Thursday afternoon while on an unofficial visit with his father. Steve Smith confirmed the commitment which occured just before two o'clock.
"Coach Horn and his staff were very gracious and showed us around the campus," Smith said. "We talked to the athletic director, Mr. Hyman. We had a good visit with him. We also talked to the academic adviser, Mr. Harrison. It was just an excellent visit. Eric decided that was the place he wanted to be a part of. They have all the facilities you need academically as well as athletically. I think they are going in the right direction with coach Horn and his staff. Things just look good right now. Coach Horn has been on Eric since the day he first came to visit him, first day on the job actually, and that meant a lot. He kept telling him that you're the number one prospect in the state in your class, and he said that's the kind of player he's going after. He wants him to be a part of making South Carolina a national competitor."
Smith becomes the first in-state prospect to commit to Horn. Last season he averaged 18 points and 8 assists per game.
