When WR Jheranie Boyd (6-3 185) of Gastonia, NC cut his list a few weeks ago, USC was not among the survivors. But apparently Boyd hasn't totally forgotten about the Gamecocks. He said Monday night he plans to make an unofficial visit to Columbia when the Gamecocks play host to LSU.
"I want to go there and see the game atmosphere," Boyd said. "I still hear from coach Rychleski. I'm going to give him a call tomorrow (Tuesday).
Still, the Gamecocks have a lot of ground to make up on the frontrunners. Boyd said Clemson and Florida remain at the top of his list ahead of Illinois, Missouri, Oregon and Auburn. He has set an official visit to Illinois for November 15th and plans to set other dates with Missouri, Oregon, Florida and Auburn.
Boyd made an unofficial visit to Clemson last Saturday and doesn't see the need to spend an official visit with the Tigers. "Clemson is close by so we can just drive there," he said. "I've been to Clemson before. I lilke the atmosphere. They always have good support. And I like the coaches. I know they really want me and can use me in their offense."
