LB Tony Straughter (6-1 211) of Georgia Military JC said Saturday night there's a strong likelihood he will commit to USC Sunday morning when he meets with head coach Steve Spurrier. Straughter is making his official visit with the Gamecocks this weekend.
"I feel very comfortable with (defensive coordinator) Ellis Johnson and I feel I can play for him," Straughter said. He called his experience this weekend a nine on a scale of ten.
Straughter said he's to meet with Spurrier around 10:15 AM Sunday, and he added that Johnson and his recruiter Ron Cooper have told him they would accept his commitment.
Straughter's teammate, LB Josh Dickerson (6-2 220), also is making his official visit to USC this weekend. Dickerson said Saturday night he's enjoyed his visit but is not sure he'll make a commitment Sunday. He said he would like to take at least one more visit before deciding. Tennessee and West Virginia are two other schools he's been considering strongly. Dickerson also will meet with Spurrier at 10:15 AM Sunday.
Straughter and Dickerson are the only official visits at USC this weekend. WR Tim Smith and teammate LB Jerrod Askew of Chesapeake, VA were scheduled to visit but those visits were canceled.
