For the first time in 16 seasons, USC and South Carolina State will not be meeting in men's basketball. Neither school has released its official schedule, but S.C. State confirmed Monday that it will not play the Gamecocks this season.
The two schools had met in Columbia each season since 1993-94, Eddie Fogler's first as Gamecocks coach. South Carolina won every game, although one went to overtime and another to double-overtime. Two years ago, USC held on for a three-point win, and last year the Gamecocks opened Dave Odom's final season as coach with a 92-67 win over the Bulldogs.
South Carolina can schedule up to 13 nonconference opponents, and so far 11 of those opponents are known: USC will visit Baylor, Princeton and the College of Charleston, and will host Jacksonville State, Winthrop, USC-Upstate, Gardner-Webb, The Citadel, Presbyterian, Clemson and Wofford.
