DB Stephon Gilmore (6-2 195) of South Pointe made his official visit to USC over the weekend with his parents and left with a positive opinion. "It was a real good visit," Gilmore said. "I got to meet with Ellis Johnson and Steve Spurrier. I am going to visit Alabama next weekend and have a decision after that."
Gilmore said his meeting with Spurrier gave him some indication of what's available for him with the Gamecocks. "He said they have a lot of seniors at cornerback, so there should be a chance for early playing time if I come here," Gilmore said. "I want to make an impact early at whatever school I go to, so that's important to me. We also talked about playing some offense, at quarterback in a special package. We also talked about me returning punts and kickoffs because he likes what I can do with the ball in my hands."
Gilmore also has visited Tennessee. He has also been considering Clemson, Florida and Florida State, but apparently those three won't factor into his decision. "I am planning to graduate early, so I need to make my decision to get that in order," Gilmore said. "I liked Clemson at first, but I am just not interested in them right now."
