Zac Brindise will not be starting against Tennessee.
A couple of times during the open week, Steve Spurrier mentioned he might start Brindise, a walk-on from Florida, against Tennessee because Stephen Garcia and Chris Smelley seemed more effective coming off the bench.
Most thought the Brindise talk was nothing more than a motivational ploy ... and it was.
Spurrier said Tuesday Garcia would keep his starting job this week against the Vols, but Smelley might play if Garcia struggles.

In his first career start, Garcia was sacked six times in a 24-17 loss to LSU. Spurrier reiterated Tuesday that Garcia, a redshirt freshman, must do a better job of getting rid of the ball to avoid sacks.
In other news, Spurrier said left guard Jamon Meredith (sprained left ankle) will not start, but could play sparingly in the event of an injury to starters Lemuel Jeanpierre or Terrence Campbell.
