RB Roderick McDowell (5-10 175) of Sumter was named Thursday to the Shrine Bowl and Friday he hopes to lead his team to a win over Conway. McDowell has been a Clemson commitment but that pledge was shakened by the coaching change, and McDowell is now looking at USC and Kentucky. McDowell has not been to USC this season but he's thinking about making an unofficial visit Saturday for the Tennessee game. McDowell also is considering setting an official visit with the Gamecocks.
McDowell said he's also hearing a lot from Clemson. "They're keeping me in the loop," he said. "I'm trying to focus on school. And I'm having fun trying to win a championship." McDowell added that his Clemson commitment remains in place. Thru nine games this season, McDowell has rushed for 970 yards.
