Spencer Lanning received a game ball for his efforts against Tennessee on Saturday. Now the USC punter will have something else for his trophy case -- an award from the SEC after the conference named Lanning its special teams player of the week today.
Lanning, a redshirt sophomore from Rock Hill, averaged 45 yards on a season-high eight punts against the Vols. He had two punts that covered more than 50 yards and placed three inside the 20-yard line. Lanning is second in the SEC and 18th nationally with an average of 43.1 yards per punt.
