USC backup receiver Chris Hail has been suspended from Saturday’s game against Arkansas, media relations director Steve Fink said today.
Fink said Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier did not specify the reason for or the length of Hail's suspension. But a source close to the program said the suspension resulted from Hail missing classes and team activities.
Hail, who moved from defense earlier this season, has played well as a gunner on the punt team in recent weeks. The junior from Lovejoy, Ga., had two tackles last week against Tennessee. Hail is listed as a second-team receiver, but has not had a reception all season.
