OL James Carpenter (6-5 300) of Coffeyville JC visited Texas Tech this weekend and was blown away. "They shocked me," said Carpenter. "The gameday atmosphere was great. Everyone of their players was cool and I mean every single one of them." Carpenter also likes the fact that early playing time is possible there. "Both their left guard and tackle are leaving after this year. That's the side I want to play because I'm left-handed."
Carpenter is down to TTU, Oklahoma, Kansas, Alabama, Ole Miss, and possibly USC. He says that admissions is different at USC and he may not be able to get credit for all of his courses. He is visiting Oklahoma next weekend, Ole Miss on November 29th, and Alabama the first weekend in December.
He said it will be tough for him to visit USC before he makes a decision. Carpenter was recently offered by USC and he likes the opportunity to play early. He is playing tackle but says coach John Hunt is recruiting him at guard. He has not named a favorite but did say that Texas Tech moved up his list. "I like them (TTU) but I don't want to call anyone a favorite until I visit all the schools," he said.
