RB Jarvis Giles (6-0 180) of Tampa completed his official visit to USC Monday and was so impressed by what he saw and experienced, he could make a commitment to the Gamecocks by the end of the week. Giles has been committed to Tennessee but the coaching change there, and his visit to USC, is leading him in another direction.
"College football is a business," Giles said. "I have to look out for me and my family. I will probably commit to South Carolina. I don't think anything will change my mind."
Giles said he had the chance to meet former USC and NFL running back Duce Staley, and he enjoyed his time with team members and staff. "My mentor was Akeem (Auguste) and he was awesome" Giles said. "Me and coach G (Robert Gillespie) have a lot in common. And coach Spurrier is a funny guy. He was singing the whole time. The experience, I would give it a ten."
The visit was the first for Giles. He's scheduled to visit Illinois in a couple of weeks but said he probably won't take it. He has talked with his father about his thinking and he said he is on the same page with him. Giles will graduate in December and plans to enroll in college in January.
