DE Sam Montgomery (6-5 240) of Greenwood will be among the prospects on hand for the USC-Clemson game Saturday at Death Valley. Montgomery has kept interest in both programs all season. Who does he plan to root for? "I don't know," he said. "That's a tough question. I'm going to sit back and be a spectator."
USC remains a major player for Montgomery. Clemson's status with him remains tied to the future of defensive coordinator Vic Koenning. "As long as coach Vic does not leave, I will consider them," Montgomery said. "It will eliminate them totally if he's not retained."
Montgomery doesn't plan to take an official visit to USC because he's been there so much on his own. "I'll come down for some basketball games and spend a weekend there," he said. "They're too close for an official visit. I've talked to them enough. I'm waiting to see a couple of more games and chill with them a little."
Right now Montgomery said he's looking at Oregon, Southern Cal, Michigan, LSU and Oklahoma State for his official visits. He doesn't claim a favorite and said he will announce his choice at his national all star game or on Signing Day.
