Sumter RB Rod McDowell (5-10 175) made the first of consecutive Saturday trips to Clemson's Death Valley to watch the Tigers play USC. This Saturday he'll be with his team as the Gamecocks face Byrnes for the 4A-1 state title.

McDowell has been a Clemson commitment and remains so though he said he's exploring all his options. McDowell talked to some of the Clemson coaches while on the visit, including soon to be named head coach Dabo Swinney. "If he becomes the head coach and they still want me, that's good," McDowell said. "But to tell you the truth, I haven't made any decision."

McDowell has not set any official visits but wants to take three of them to Clemson, USC and Kentucky.
