QB Bryce Petty (6-3 215) of Midlothian, TX thought he was headed to the SEC to play for Tennessee. But the coaching change resulted in the Vols retracting their scholarship offer. But, Petty could end up in the SEC anyway as USC, Ole Miss and Arkansas are among the schools he's contacted or who have contacted him since he returned to the recruiting market.
Petty said a USC coach talked to his mother Thursday and a highlight tape was sent to Steve Spurrier Friday. "They are supposed to get back to me before the weekend is over," Petty said. Before he committed to Tennessee, Petty had offers from Baylor, Nebraska and New Mexico. He's also had contact from Oklahoma, Baylor and SMU. He will take an unofficial visit to Baylor this weekend.
This season Petty passed for around 1600 yards and 8 touchdowns with 6 interceptions. He also rushed for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns.
