USC reserve cornerback Jamire Williams is leaving the program and plans to transfer to Alabama State, according to a source close to the football program.
Williams, a redshirt freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., apparently was dissatisfied with his playing time with the Gamecocks.
Williams becomes the fourth player to leave the team since the end of the regular season.
Strong safety Emanuel Cook, the Gamecocks’ leading tackler the past two seasons, failed to pass the mandatory six credit hours this semester and is ineligible for the bowl game. USC coach Steve Spurrier said Cook intends to enter the NFL draft.
