The USC basketball coaching staff has been keeping an eye on 6-8 Quincy Hankins of Polk JC, FL according to assistant coach Phil Cohen.
"South Carolina seems to really like him," Cohen said. A pair of Gamecock coaches scouted Hankins last month. He has not been offered but is also drawing interest from Providence, South Florida, Seton Hall, Georgia Tech, UAB and Arizona.
The 240 pound Hankins is a native of Long Island. This season he is averaging 16.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. "He's athletic and he runs the floor well," Cohen said. "He's very skilled for his size. He can play the up tempo style and play with the big guys."
Cohen said Hankins does have some academic work to fulfill and that's why the school have held off on offers. He has not taken any official visits but will do so after the season.
