OL Brent Benedict (6-6 290) of Jacksonville spent Monday at Clemson checking out the school and the football program. Benedict said he arrived Monday morning and met up with recruiter Jeff Scott who took him on a tour of the academic and athletic facilities. "I was very impressed by the set up they have," Benedict said.
He later ate lunch with the coaches and attended an offensive linemen's meeting. Before practice, Benedict said he talked with head coach Dabo Swinney. "He explained the scenario at Clemson and that they are looking for offensive linemen," Benedict said. "It got me excited about the possibility of playing at Clemson."
Benedict watched the Tigers practice in the late afternoon paying close attention to offensive line coach Brad Scott. "It was similar to how we run practice," he said. "Coach Scott seems like a fundamentals coach. I liked how they got after it. I was very impressed."
Benedict was at Georgia Saturday and also has been to Florida. Tuesday he will visit Virginia Tech and later this week he will visit Duke, North Carolina and Wake Forest. "I'm not narrowing anything down," said Benedict who has nearly 40 offers.
USC also is an offer and he said he's also interested in the Gamecocks. He was in Columbia last Fall for the LSU game. Some of his other offers are UCLA, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, Purdue and Texas A&M. There are no favorites.
