Rock Hill Cornerback Drawing USC Interest

DB Xavier McFadden (5-11 170) of Rock Hill has gotten interest from both Clemson and USC. McFadden is also hearing from Florida, NC State, Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Duke. He says is top five are Florida first and then Clemson, Maryland, USC, and NC State, in that order. McFadden is still waiting for that first offer.

He has been to junior days at Clemson and Duke. "I liked Duke but I liked Clemson better," he said. "I like the environment, the students and the coaches. I just like the way they run things over there." He is planning to go back to Clemson to watch a spring practice. He also hopes to make one at USC.

McFadden played both ways last year and had a busy season. "Playing defensive back comes more natural to me but I'm starting to learn how to play wide reciever," he said. "Last year was the first time I played it."

McFadden had 78 tackles, four interceptions returning two for touchdown, 13 pass break ups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery on defense. On offense, he caught 41 balls for 425 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a score. He says he will play both ways again this year.
