DL Kelcy Quarles (6-5 270) of Greenwood had planned to attend North Carolina's spring game Saturday but the the event was rained out, so Quarles stayed home.
He remains committed to USC but is going to check out several other programs. "I just want to make sure I give everybody a fair chance and make sure I make the right decision," Quarles said. "I want to make sure the school I go to is where my heart is."
Quarles said he talked with his USC recruiter Brad Lawing late last week, and he talked with Clemson recruiter Chris Rumph Saturday. "He was just telling me I can come in and play," Quarles said. "I talked to coach Haley at LSU. He tells me they are losing five (defensive linemen) to graduation and I can make a big impact."
Quarles has decided on four of his official visits this fall...USC, LSU, Alabama and North Carolina. He's looking at Southern Cal and Tennessee for his fifth visit. He plans to take several unofficial visits to Clemson.
Quarles said he will be going to spring games at USC, LSU, Florida State and Tennessee. Quarles has offers from USC, Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, North Carolina, NC State, Maryland, Alabama and Florida.
