Former South Carolina standout Jasper Brinkley was drafted Sunday by the Minnesota Vikings.
The 6-foot-2, 252-pound inside linebaker was taken with the 14th pick of the fifth round of the NFL draft, or 150th overall. The Vikings traded up in the round with the Redskins to take Brinkley.
Brinkley led USC in tackles in 2006, earning him all-SEC first-team honors.
Brinkley sustained a season-ending right knee injury in 2008 in a game at LSU. He underwent surgery, took a medical redshirt and returned in 2008, when he had 54 tackles.
