A 43-year-old man who went to the emergency room at Palmetto Health Richland had more than a medical malady - he had a homicide he told the staff about.
In fact, his description of a death in Monroe, N.C., proved so accurate that the hospital staff called Columbia police.
Columbia police came to the hospital, talked with the man, then telephoned Monroe police. They went to a local residence and found a dead woman Sunday evening.
Today, James Christopher Boshers is in the Richland County jail on a fugitive warrant from Monroe charging him in connection with the woman’s murder, said Columbia police spokesman Brick Lewis.
“The Monroe police department will be coming down to pick him up,” said Lewis.
Lewis did not know why Boshers told the hospital staff about the dead woman, or how Boshers came to be in Columbia.
