DL Ego Ferguson Jr. (6-3 260) of Hargrave Prep, VA and OL Arie Kouandjio (6-6 314) of Hyattsville, MD spent Thursday afternoon at USC on unofficial visits. "I wanted to see the school and the relationship with the coaches and meet with the defensive line coach," Ferguson said. "It was a good experience. I think we all agree we had a good time at South Carolina. Talking to the defensive line coach, he shared a lot about the system."
Ferguson is down to 21 schools...USC, Clemson, Nebraska, LSU, Oklahoma, Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, UCLA, California, Southern Cal, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, NC State and and Georgia. He plans to cut that list to about 10-15 schools at the end of the summer. He has no timetable for a decision.
Kouandjio also enjoyed his time with the Gamecocks. "I got to meet all the coaches," he said. "I had a really good time. They showed me a bunch about the school. Overall, it was a good visit. I really like the stadium and the coaches. I hung out with coach Graham and coach Wolford. They are very interested in me and would love to have me."
Kouandjio has not narrowed his list of 40 offers. Some of his other offers are Tennessee, Miami, LSU, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Florida, Nebraska and Alabama.
Joining the two linemen on the visit was ATH David Coates (5-9 170) of Washington, DC who at this time is not being actively recruited by the Gamecocks.
The group left Columbia headed for Florida where they will visit Florida State and Florida on Friday, and South Florida and Miami over the weekend.
