ATH Bruce Ellington (5-9 185) of Berkeley just finished up an outstanding run in two tournaments in Las Vegas and Phoenix.
"He's been phenomenal," said Ellington's AAU coach Antoine Saunders. "One service told us he could be rated one of the top five point guards in the country. We're expecting 20 plus offers by Friday. He blew up on the national scene."
Ellington has basketball offers now from USC, Clemson, Southern Cal, Auburn, Miami, College of Charleston and Georgia Southern. Showing strong interest and expected to join the offer parade are Alabama, Tennessee, Marquette, Florida and Virginia Tech.
"The state schools have done a great job," Saunders said. "They were on him early. They will not be bumped off his list. They will be in the top two no matter who else comes in. Southern Cal loves him."
Ellington has football offers from USC, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Maryland. He said he's still undecided about which sport he'll play in college. He said there is no leader for him among the football offers, but he does have a favorite right now among his basketball offers.
"USC is up there because they've been to all my games," Ellington said.
Ellington's TMT AAU team will fly out of Phoenix Wednesday and return to Charleston. Once he's back home, basketball coaches can once again contact him and that's when the new offers are expected to roll in.
