The Alabama linebacker urged the crowd to continue its chant of "Let's go, Moe" after USC receiver Moe Brown laid motionless on the field after a hit in the first quarter.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore looked in danger of losing his starting linebacker job, but he came up with a huge game Saturday, intercepting a pass and making 11 tackles.
More than half of the yards gained through the air by USC's Stephen Garcia (214) and Alabama's Greg McElory (92 yards) came on yards after the catch.
THE NUMBER OF PENALTIES
Alabama was flagged 10 times for 113 yards, while USC was whistled five times for 60 yards.
USC NOT BEING OPPORTUNISTIC
The Gamecocks were unable to take advantage of good field position and Alabama turnovers. The offense started with the ball at Alabama's 31-yard line, its own 46 and twice each at its 44 and 41.
