DB Victor Hampton (5-10 175) of Darlington made an unofficial visit to USC for the Vanderbilt game this past Saturday. That was his second unofficial visit to USC and this time he got a little bit more inside the program.
"I met the coaches for the first time after the game," Hampton said. "I also saw some of my old friends from high school who play for South Carolina (Jason Barnes, Pierre Andrews). I met with coach Ward and coach Johnson. They want me there. They feel like I can be an impact player next year."
USC and Tennessee are the top two for Hampton, and he will make an official visit to Knoxville this weekend to watch the Gamecocks tangle with the Vols. He will take his official visit to USC for the Florida game.
He has not scheduled any other officials. He also has offers from Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia and NC State.
In a three point loss to Crestwood Friday night, Hampton said he was in on about a dozen tackles and had a 50 yard punt return called back.
