A typical burglar is:

- Between 13 and 30 years old

- Familiar with the neighborhood

- On foot or on bicycle or dropped off by an accomplice and picked up later

- Knows someone who lives nearby or has worked in the neighborhood

- In it for the money but may get a thrill from being in someone's house
