DL Michael Thornton (6-2 285) of Stone Mountain, GA pushed recruiting away for several weeks while dealing with his own football season. Now that it's over, he's starting to get more involved with the process again. He has taken an official visit to Penn State and is trying to decide on his other visits.
"I'm still interested in all my offers," he said. "There is no top five or top ten."
USC and Clemson are among those offers and are working him. "I talked to (USC recruiter) coach Ward last week," he said. "He wants me to come up for a visit. And I talked to (Clemson recruiter) coach Brooks about two to three weeks ago. I've also been talking to (Clemson recruiter) coach Rumph. I think both of them will make the cut. They could use me and I could use them."
Thornton is not going anywhere this weekend and plans to starting lining up his visits in a couple of weeks. He also has offers from Miami, Auburn, NC State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and West Virginia.
He finished the season with about 80 tackles and 7 sacks.
