DE Tavaris Barnes (6-5 250) of Jacksonville, FL made his official visit to USC over the weekend. "Everything was cool," Barnes said. "I saw the facilities and met a lot of the players. I talked to all the coaches but mostly coach Lawing, coach Spurrier and coach Spurrier Jr. I learned South Carolina is going to be really good in the next few years competing for SEC championships and the national championship. South Carolina ain't all that boring as I thought it was." Barnes host was Akeem Auguste and he said he also spent a lot of time with Terrence Campbell.
Barnes has several coaches set to visit him this week including North Carolina head coach Butch Davis Monday. Spurier Jr. and Lawing from USC are due in on Tuesday. Clemson recruiter Jeff Scott is coming in on Friday, and coaches from Florida State also will be in this week. Barnes has set official visits to Clemson January 8th and North Carolina January 15th.
He maintains a medium commitment to Florida State but really feels the other schools are basically even with the Seminoles right now.
