Sunday night's game against Minnesota gives Carolina rookie cornerback Captain Munnerlyn the opportunity to play against his all-time favorite player – Vikings quarterback Brett Favre.
“Growing up, I just loved Brett Favre,” Munnerlyn said Wednesday. “I used to even watch some of his film (from college) at Southern Miss. That's not far from where I grew up (in Mobile, Ala.). I actually almost went to Southern Miss because of Brett Favre.”
Munnerlyn, the Panthers' No. 3 cornerback, said he used to wear a Favre jersey and Green Bay Packers' jacket.
Munnerlyn said he plans to meet Favre before the game. If he happens to intercept a pass, he said he'll probably ask Favre to autograph the ball.

“I hope I don't get star-struck while he's under center,” he said.
Munnerlyn played at South Carolina with Favre's top receiver, Sidney Rice. He knew Vikings' rookie sensation Percy Harvin in college when Harvin was at Florida.
The Vikings have the NFL's sixth-ranked offense. Favre ranks second in passing with a 106.0 rating. Rice ranks fifth in receiving yards with 1,075.
“It's going to be hard stopping those boys, but we've just got to go out there and put a good game plan together and hopefully we can get a win,” said Munnerlyn.
