Lake City RB Shon Carson (5-9 195) not only is one of the state's top football prospects, he's one of the best baseball players in the state as well. And Saturday he'll have a doubleheader of sorts.
Carson will be at USC early in the morning to meet with Gamecock coaches and representatives of the US Army All American Game. After finishing up in Columbia, he will head up to Clemson to take in the rest of the Tigers' junior day.
USC and Clemson have offered Carson in both sports. He also has offers from North Carolina, East Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee, Alabama and Southern Cal. He also wants to visit Alabama and North Carolina in coming weeks.
Carson rushed for 2141 yards and 33 touchdowns last season. "He's a coach's dream, he's amazing," said Lake City coach Justin Gentry. "He has good hands. He runs sweeps well and runs between the tackles. He has good ability to cut back and see the field. And he knows when to lower his shoulder."
In baseball, Carson plays shortstop and pitches but will will be an outfielder at the next level. He's considered a prime prospect for this summer's draft.
