This week started with a 12-hour road trip to Lakewood, N.J. We took sleeper buses on this trip so it wasn't too bad of a ride because we were able to sleep the majority of the trip.
Once arriving to Lakewood, a few of us realized that we were about 15 minutes away from the famous Jersey Shore, the place where they film the MTV show. Since we were only 15 minutes away and it was Cinco de Mayo, we decided to go to the shore for some food and exploring.
Once there we got some food on the boardwalk and explored the shore for a few hours. I thought it was pretty interesting to see and be at the same places that were on the show. Unfortunately we didn't see any of the people on the show, but I still had a great time hanging out with my teammates in the same places the show's case did on television.
On the baseball side, we split a four-game series. I struggled a little bit during the series, but the Yankees' minor league hitting coordinator was there to help me out with some of the things that he saw.
I learned that a lot of things that I was doing wrong had to do with the mental side instead of the physical. A lot of times when you're not hitting as good as you want to, it doesn't have anything to do with mechanics. In my situation it had to do with my timing. I wasn't giving myself enough time to hit the pitches that were thrown to me. After working on that, I feel really confident about the next series and that it will prove to be successful.
