6-5 Damien Leonard of JL Mann made an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State over the weekend with his AAU coach and is working on getting his list down to a final three. Leonard visited USC, Clemson, Arizona, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech. He plans to notify two of the schools soon to let them know they no longer are under consideration.
Leoanrd's AAU coach Willis Holliday said he had a very good visit to Oklahoma State and learned a lot about the program. He's now comparing what he knows about the individual schools. "He's doing his pros and cons," Holliday said. "He knows the direction he's moving in. He knows his three."
Holliday would not disclose the finalists but hinted USC is among them. "I'll just say that South Carolina did a great job selling their university," Holliday said.
As for Clemson, the Tigers were the front runners for Leonard until Oliver Purnell's staff left. Holliday said the problem for Leonard and Clemson is he doesn't know enough about the new staff and their coaching style. "He's got to see how this coach is going to do," Holliday said. "He's going to give him a fair chance."
Leonard will not take any more visits for recruiting purposes and he plans to sign in November.
